Once upon a time, in the very place where the Brothers Grimm wrote down their fairy tales and legends nearly 200 years ago, there was a special farm called Soodehof Eins. This is where farmer Günther, farmer’s wife Juliane and their children live. And their own love story could easily have belonged in one of those fairy tales. Juliane grew up as a true city girl, but her heart had always belonged to horses. During a visit to a local event in the region, she met Günther. Although they were both originally from Hombressen, they had never met before. But that day, sparks flew instantly. It was love at first sight, and Juliane decided to return to Hombressen for her prince on a white horse. Together, they run Soodehof Eins, a lively farm with 200 hectares of farmland, 140 dairy cows, just as many young calves and more than 20 horses and ponies. Sustainability plays an important role here. The farm works according to circular farming principles. The cows’ manure is used in a biogas installation that produces enough green electricity for the entire village. What remains is used as natural fertilizer for the fields, where crops grow to feed the cows once again. And so the circle is complete, just like in a good fairy tale. Soodehof Eins is a true paradise for horse lovers of all ages. The whole family loves to ride and happily shares this passion with their guests. You can care for your own pony, take riding lessons with Juliane or one of her enthusiastic team members, or enjoy a peaceful walk through the forest with a pony. Experienced riders can explore the surrounding hills and woods on horseback. Adults are very welcome to ride as well. Of course, there is plenty for children to discover too. A large play meadow with a climbing frame, trampoline, sandbox and bird’s nest swing invites hours of fun. Or head straight to the stables, where playing in the hay is more than allowed. Juliane and her team also organise many activities, such as archery and cosy campfire evenings. And if time allows, team member Christian might even take you for a ride on the tractor. As you can see, there is never a dull moment at Soodehof Eins. For a truly special farm holiday in a beautiful part of Germany, this active family is the perfect choice.
