From experience we know that it is unlikely you’ll even leave the farm, simply because the children are having so much fun. And let’s face it: that’s when you can start to relax and enjoy being on holiday too.

If you do want to discover the area, then Walcheren (which is the name of the Island you are on) offers everything you may need. Most famously known for its seaside resorts and fine beaches, there are also lovely places to visit like Middelburg, the lakeside town of Veere and Vlissingen. Perfect family days out with kids in tow!

  • Veerse Meer Lake

Just less than 2 kilometers from Oranjepolder lies lake “Veerse Meer”. This former bay is now a watersports paradise and with its shallow shore it is particularly suitable for families with children. Perfect for swimming but you can also go canoeing, sailing, fishing or take a boat trip along the numerous uninhabited little islands.

  • Kanoa outdoor & events

Located at the Veerse Meer Lake is this outdoors and events centre offering activities like canoeing, supping and pedalos. For those of you who prefer to stay on dry land then there is also climbing, catapult shooting or you can even rent an adult scooter.

  • Beaches Zoutelande, Domburg and Banjaard

About 20 minutes away from the farm you’ll find many gorgeous beaches. With its beautiful dunes stretching the expanse of the beach, Zoutelande is a perfect example. The beaches of Domburg and Banjaardare beaches are definitely worth a visit too.

  • Het Arsenaal Piratenpark

At this pirates’ park in Vlissingen you can experience what it is like to live as a pirate. Stand face to face with a real shark, enjoy exciting pirate activities or scale the 65 metre high lookout which has a fabulous view across the Westerschelde (Western Scheldt estuary).

  • Familiepretpark Mini Mundi

Mini Mundi in Middelburg is a family amusement park that has both indoor and outdoor playgrounds with miniature Walcheren buildings and plenty of rides for the little ones. Explore the “big and small” theme park with the Mini Mundi Express train!

  • Klok'uus

Just under 15 minutes away from the farm in 's-HeerArendskerke, this large indoor and outdoor playground is suitable for both the younger children in your family as much as the bigger ones. Klok’uus has it all, ranging from a ballpit to sandpit, go-kart track to the Freefall slide or how about trying out the 6-meter-high suspension bridge!


  • Berkenhof Tropical Zoo

Find animals in the mini-jungle, descend to the Fossil Mine, walk amongst giant dinosaurs or discover the variety of butterfly species in the butterfly garden. When the children have finished looking at all of the animals they can happily entertain themselves for hours in the indoor playground or in the play-woods outside. There is a fun packed adventure awaiting you at Berkenhof in the village of Kwadendamme.

  • Terra Maris

Situated in the beautiful “De Manteling” nature reserve at Oostkapelle, Terra Maris is the museum to go to if you want to explore the natural environment of the province of Zeeland. Various activities designed to engage children with the natural surroundings are organised throughout the year such as beachcombing.

  • Reptielenzoo Iguana Vlissingen

Enter the wonderful world of Reptile Zoo Iguana and get up close and personal with huge lizards, iguanas, snakes and other reptiles. The zoo is a shelter to animals that have lost their homes, been confiscated or cannot be returned into the wild.

The picturesque town of Veere has a rich history. Stroll through the narrow cobbled streets and take in the old trading houses, the Big Church and the famous City Hall. A visit to Veere wouldn’t be complete without popping in to Museum Veere along the way. What about ending your day with a bite or a meal in one of the many restaurants or waterfront terraces?

This museum in Vlissingen offers great entertainment. You can experience Zeeland’s maritime past and present whilst you find out about the important role that the sea plays to those who live in Zeeland. You can play all kinds of interactive games, do a treasure hunt or even have a go at piloting a vessel to the port of Antwerp.
